Black tank valve

Well it finally happened today. The cable to the valve became unusable. Fortunately I was near a DRV dealer. I got a new straight pull valve so I got rid of the cable. Now all I do is open the basement door, slide the inner door and easily open and close the valve. The crap cable is gone. I took the old assembly apart after the job and found out I could have used the old valve by just removing the cable apparatus. The valve in my rig is a Bristol valve rather than a Valterra so be sure you get the right valve before taking it apart. The change was fairly straight forward other than having trouble keeping the seals in place during assembly as I had no play in the pipes.

Thanks for the info.. So you are saying just remove the cable and there is enough left to pull/push?

Once the cable is removed it looks just like a regular valve. If you reuse the old valve it would have to be rotated 180* so you can reach it,

Slow Six is right--the valve as installed has the cable pull to the rear; the valve will have to be rotated 180d to direct pull.
Was looking at doing just that soon, but my old cable is still working, just as hard as it was 7 years ago when I got the trailer.
