Towing Report: Box Elder to Minneapolis MN

Doing the math and checking it twice I got a solid 14.8 MPG towing round trip, parameters were, very little wind, and a steady state of 55 mph. The Tranny temp never went over 150. All tires aired to max sidewall pressure, normal gear when camping and 3 adults.

Watch for that giant smile when you pass me

Wow. 14.8 is about the best I have seen empty with my rig. Must be the trailer! Can I borrow your trailer?

I usually get around 10-12 mpg towing, trailer weighs 16350. The Duramax is fabulous. No trailer, I get 16-17 depending on terrain.
The biggest variable in mpg is whether "Tow/Haul" is on or off....I lose mileage with it on, but the Allison tranny does all the shifting for me, and really helps the "braking". Worth evry penny, but wish I was getting a new 2006 w/6spd.
