I have a 2012 Ram 3500 diesel and tow a 37ft 11000 dry weight 5th wheel. While I believe I'm well within my weigh limits. My question is, would moving to a DRW 3500 make a noticeable difference in handling , braking , etc ? Its a big investment getting a new truck if the difference will be minimal. thank you for your input.

We had a SRW F-350 and purchased a fifth wheel with a loaded weight of something like 16,090 (and the SRW had a max capacity of 16,000). We towed it a while with the SRW, but a month or two into it we traded for an F-350 DRW and the difference was amazing. Stability, handling, braking - it all improved amazingly. And that doesn't even include the peace of mind factor!!

If you can afford it - I'd recommend it, and I don't know what the weight max is for your 2012 Ram 3500 - and you didn't mention if you have two door or four door, so there are lots of other factors to consider.

Biggest thing is the GVRW numbers. A dually usually will support higher numbers. Friend with DRW vs SRW stated they have less wind impact also
