Okanagan to Arizona

We are planning to leave the south okanagan in early march, my question regards to my 2007 DRV select suite 31RLS, should I hook up and leave with the unit still in winter storage mode, or can I fire up the furnace when its still parked, to warm everything up, blow out the winter anti freeze etc, and head south. Im reluctant to run out the slides when we are in minus temperatures so would like to know if I can heat the unit with the furnace, when the slides are in??

Valet, most of the MS units have a large slide covering the floor registers. That rules it out if even one is covered.

As an option to what Jim has said--altho the furnace vents may be covered with a slide, there is some room for air circulation. We have traveled in an '05 36TK3 in winter time several times and had the furnace on set to 40degrees. Seemed to work ok, idea was to keep the basement warm. May not be the best idea, but it worked for us. Keep in mind, the truck will probably not keep up with the furnace blower motor use on the batteries, and also propane use. Would not run the furnace any higher than minimum temp set.

Thanks for the reply, yes, keeping the basement warm is the main objective till we get a few days south.

We have traveled from Wisconsin to Arizona the last few years. I have always just left my 5th wheel winterized until I get to the warm weather in southern New Mexico. We do spend the night 2x on the way at which time I fire up the generator and furnace. I don’t kick out my slides because I can access my bed and bath with them in. I bring a gallon of rv antifreeze to flush the toilet if needed. I have seen well below freezing temperatures a good portion of the way south... I won’t risk it.

We do it nearly every year for 8 years on the way to AZ. Leave MN in November with furnace at 45 couple days of packing and heading south with still on. One vent covered by slide. Plenty battery for 500 miles of furnace b4 shore power stops.
