Hi all,

Pleasure to be squarely in the embrace of such an amazing wealth of knowledge and experience!

We are retired and in the early stages of moving off of our boat but not ready to become untethered from a 30 or 50am power cord. To that end, I am starting my initial research on what are good possibilities and more importantly, what to stay away from.

My initial focus is on the truck (GMC 3500 duramax with an engine brake). I am a Ram owner and I have had Cummins in a few boats in the past, like them, but my research tells me that Durimax/Allison combo will allow a fairly large slate of fifth-wheel options to choose from.

We very much welcome all advice on this forum or in PM and really appreciate it if comments could stay at lease close to the topic before we go down a rabbit hole of something like Halley Hanson is the best raincoat. (Grin)

Welcome to the forum! I too have a Duramax with the Allison and love it. I have been pulling a 15K lbs. 43’ Spartan toy hauler for the last 7 years. I’m getting ready to down size, and looking at several makes of 5ers. Here is my list, there will be others that like other brands so you have a lot of decisions ahead. DRV, Vanleigh BEACON, Heartland Landmark, Grand Design Solitude and Redwood. Look at RV Trader to get an idea of the model you want and the price you will pay. If want to look at new, Brinkley is a one to look at. Happy hunting!

Welcome.
As far as what truck I'm a Ford guy. No matter just make sure you get a 1 ton diesel dually!
