Holding Tank Question

We are considering purchasing a 5th wheel to use when we are in town and parking it at our son's home. We would run electric and water hookups from his residence. The issue is how we handle grey and black water. We can not tie in to his septic system due to a significant elevation change. The residence is higher in elevation. We are considering installing a 1000 gallon holding tank and having it pumped on a regular basis. Is this practical? There would be two people 8-10 days per month and one person an additional 10-12 days per month. Any "best quess's" on how often it may need to be pumped? I realize there are several factors that impact it and we would not use our son's home for showers, dish cleaning or bathroom facilities. Thank you

Off hand I would 'guess' at twice a month. I would be way more inclined to invest in a best quality macerator/pump and tie into their system. From Google: "a macerator takes the waste from a WC, a wash basin and a shower then pumps it through 1 inch small-bore pipework, vertically up to 16 feet or horizontally up to 325 feet or a lesser combination of both."
Many better grade RV's come equipped with macerator pumps that may be used if necessary.

Just to add on, the macerator pump will shred everything up, so that it may actually be able to go into the septic system, definitely check with a professional septic tank professional!

Better open your checkbook. Having a septic company out and pump that tank even one time is going to set you back several hundred dollars. As somebody mentioned, get a macerator pump and pump it into your son's septic system. You really shouldn't need to check with a septic installer. Run the hose right into the tank.
