I have just replaced the second front spindle on my 2500HD. Sealed bearing gone bad on both and I just turned 150K miles. Dealer charged $500. on the first one, the second cost me $189 doing it myself.

A few metric tool and 2 hours work with out the convenience of a shop, etc. I feel ripped off by the dealer and GM as they should have lasted longer and over charged on the labor.

Rick,

When we still had the Chevy I had to replace both front hubs for the same reason. Very common item on these trucks. Mine lasted about 110km (70k miles) I too replaced them myself. Not a bad job and the dealers and most shops rip ya off on this one!

The procedure is avail on the Diesel place forum.
