Looking at around 1,000,000,000 choices and options for surge and electrical protection. What are the simplest and most effective apparatus to use?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Actually, most RVers end up with one of 2 brands: Progressive or Surge Guard. Then you decide if you want portable or fixed (hardwired) then if you need 30amp or 50 amp.
All of them do what is needed, but Progressive has a lifetime warranty, I believe. And if you hardwire it, you can add a remote monitor to place near your power controls inside.

Thank you Wingnut60. I’m finding the folks that I am finding about half of the people I talk to have surge protectors. They say that they have never needed one. I just. Can’t see why you would take the chance. Too big of an investment.

For most of the years I had my '05 Suites, never had a SP--finally bit the bullet and installed the PI hard-wired 50A with remote readout. About 4 weeks later, was at a CG and it cut all power off--said Voltage too high. After about 2 hours, it let me reset and all was well. It also allowed me to see how many amps each appliance used and what leg it was wired on.
Now my '15 has it built in.
Would never be without one after seeing how it works.
