I was told that I-10 between El Paso and Fort Stockton is very bumpy and will rattle your teeth the whole way. Has anyone found this to be the case? We are going to go from AZ to S Carolina next month and are looking for the best route.

Been a while since I've been that route, but don't recall any more than the usual interstate bumps. TX takes care of their highways better than most any other state.
I-10 from TX border thru LA is another story altogether.
Suggest you consider some state roads thru TX unless time is against you--Hwy 62 out of El Paso thru the Guadalupe Mtns is pretty nice and if you like dry-camping, you can overnight at Guadalupe Mtn State Park parking lot. Hwy from there toward DFW is not a straight line, is mostly 2-lane, but in very good condition.
Taking I-20 when you hit it will be a much better route than I-10 I would think.

we towed to Kerrville Texas before coming back to Az in Oct 2015. That area of I-10 was rough but had many signs of men working and concrete dividers to be in one lane. coming back still never saw any actions. We drove on the alost shoulder of the road because it was smoother . Semi's were doing the same . We might do the same this oct if our friends are still healthy for company. Thinking it will be a better highway then.

chevman PS we have an airhitch and trailer center point suspension so nothing was moved in the alpenlite.
