Brake bleed

GREAT - that way, If I call out coon tails, pinwheels, Nancy Pelosi deletes, chips and overloaded SRW trucks, you will not be offended and launch into a vicious personal attack.

I can't find the original recall, but I have copies of the installation instructions that came with the revised clips dated November 2021. The revised clips are of a different material, I think, roughly twice as thick as the originals and painted yellow. The clearance between the caliper and wheel is VERY tight. It only took a small amount bend in the clip to allow the calipers to start gouging grooves in the wheel. The damage was first discovered on July 17, 2019 and it took a couple of years before the recall was issued.

Our rig was the epicenter for the clip problem and long before DRV/MOR/ryde/Kodiak/Dexter came to a clip conclusion. Started in June-July 2018, almost from the day of pickup May 31, 2018.

And it was at Dexter with engineers in the audience the clip issue was discovered while we were in the parking lot of the Dexter facility and the wheels were being removed once again by a Dexter tech.

Our trailer had 5 different versions of clips before the final and current version. And for being a willing ‘participant’ Dexter/Kodiak agreed to replace every part related to the brakes when a solution was discovered. From the caliper mounts to polycarbonate caps. Along with reimbursement for 2 wheels. In April 2023 I had a pallet delivered from Texas with all new components.

Fun fact, after all the clip drama I found a new problem. The big, single piston caliper has too much hydraulic pressure for the pads and was deforming the pads when under maximum braking.

And yellow wasn’t the final version, although it was supposed to be the cure.

Looking to flush, bleed brakes, and fill reservoir on my 2017. Does anyone have instructions/advice for this project?
I thought I gave you my method sometime ago to bleed the brakes solo?

I made up a tool to actuate the pump, I would not pull the pin.
And you have to fill the reservoir every 1 or cracks of the screw or you will get air.

I found with ours the reservoir is so small just normal wear of the pads required topping off yearly and a possible mess when changing out pads.
The 9K calipers are huge and have a lot of liquid volume once the pads start meeting down.

And to add, I’ll contact a camper buddy of ours to see if he recalls the lift he had on his Landmark for his elderly mom.
She could roll on, lift, roll in.

Yep. I had five engineers from DRV, Dexter and MORryde come to Atlanta to see my trailer after I reported the calipers gouging the wheels. And like you, they did the right thing by graciously replacing everything related to the brakes, wheels, suspension and tires. More than once in some cases. The other issue that was going on at the same time was the incredibly poor design of the brake line connections to the calipers that were causing the head to break off the brake line inside the caliper then blow out upon brake application. Finding you're our of brakes going down a mountain is not a fun experience. fortunately, both of those issues were have been resolved but I still run into owners who don’t know either of them.
