Performance Module

I see these modules shown on different places and was wondering if anyone is using one and if so are they any good for improving fuel economy.

I suspect if you are already worrying about mileage that you won't be comfortable towing the weight you're up against. Large TV's and large RV's don't come at a bargain price. A mile or two better per gallon rates way down on most owner's lists. And if it does work, why do you suppose the manufacturer didn't go with it? Like these aftermarket companies employ better engineers than the big three....I think not.

King if your truck is still under warranty I highly advise against any aftermarket performance as they can see if you had something installed even if you remove it for warranty work.

The only one I run is a Banks unit. They are 50 State legal so no worry about warranty or engine damage.

So is Banks going to back you in Court when Ford denies warranty? Does Ford approve of it?

What I am saying is Bank's only makes CARB approved programers. No other company I know does.
I don't run Ford oil in my engine I guess by your thinking Ford wouldn't cover warranty for that.

I think Cummins' point was that while the Banks unit might be "50 state legal," that may not have any effect on whether a vehicle manufacturer will "honor" that in a warranty issue.

Oh, and I doubt that Ford requires a certain "brand" of oil, but instead a certain "classification" of oil.

A few years back I was looking at adding a Banks system to 1 of my trucks.. I called them and had a nice conversation about this very topic.

While they say the system is 50 state legal, I specifically asked would they back me if I had an issue. It was silence, then a hard NO we don't do that.

Not bad. Only one of the 7 responses addressed your question. Yes it can improve MPG but only marginally. As far as the Warranty drift responses, possibly you have been smart enough to call a dealer and present their question. Maybe your vehicle is out of warranty. But back to your question, yes, slightly.
