What is the pin weight of DRV Dallas?

Looking to buy a 2014 DRV Dallas and want to know pin weight of any others. Subject has a generator.

Planning to pull with a SRW F350 It'll be overloaded slightly. Anyone else doing a 43 foot with a SRW ?

I guess you’re going to do it no matter how far out of the envelope you are? Your PW will be about 4500 pounds ready to roll. Tell us what the yellow sticker on your post of the TV reads for cargo capacity. And here is more info: https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2014-...dallas-tr17007

Overloaded slightly? With a SRW? My 44' Santa Fe weighs over 24k.
You will be way over. Since it's a 2014, simply ask the original owner.

5WRV, suggest you consider that 2 average pickup tires will support 7500lbs--take 4500 away from that and you have 3000lbs. Go weigh your truck loaded to tow and see what the rear axle weighs, then you will know how far OVER the tire capacity you will be.
Don't do it.

I don't have a Dallas but have a 2016 MS 38PS3/Dallas. The front 20 feet is similar to the Dallas. I have 4 tires on the ground carrying 15,000 pounds and the pin has 5,000 pounds. That overloaded my F350 Dually without sufficient brakes soon found a new home.

The DRV spec's back in 2014-15 kind of underestimated total weights of what I thought I was getting when I ordered.

“Kind of underestimated”? You mean like my ‘15 38RSSA with an advertised 16500 dry weight and it weighs 18300 empty? Take 400 off for the gen— that is still 1400 over.....
Also, the yellow label says do not load over 2735lbs in it—that in itself would put it over the gvwr.
I would say that is quite an understatement, or I don’t know where their dry is coming from.
Don't believe they have changed the dry weights much from '14-15---they have raised the gvwr tho...

I was told by Kyle Miller, the RV's are weighted leaving the factory so the 17,200 in my case is before the dealer loaded/installed the 7 pieces furniture, the window awnings and mattress exchanged. I didn't get my own dry weight as I transferred belonging and drove a hundred miles before weighting. I quickly found out I exceeded my 1785 cargo weight with minimum water because I would be winterizing the next day.

Clay I gonna run as I need to replace another broken screw in the trim.

Advertised dry weight of 38PS3 2016 was 16200/MS and 17100/ES. Yours was weighed at 17200 for a Mobile or an Elite?
17200 + 1785 = 18985lbs What is the gvwr on yours?

My gvwr is 19000, less the 2735 cargo, means my trailer should have been 16265, pretty close to the 'dry weight.' As I said, w/o the gen install, 'dry weight' would be 17900...

Perhaps the 'dry weight' is before they put the trailer structure on the frame...

We moved a friends '14 Dallas 43' not long ago, although it was nearly empty. Other than a little more tire scuffing from the third axle we didn't notice an appreciable difference from our normal loaded 4200> lbs. pin. Sorry didn't weigh it, no scales nearby.
He had another buddy move it just about a city block, with his 2500. Enough said.

It's either going to be safe or it's going to be unsafe.....that's the real decision. If you like the trailer, get a bigger truck.....don't want a bigger truck, then get something suited to the truck you have....

Try to not have a wreck because if you are overloaded, you may not have insurance coverage. This would not be a problem unless you have any net worth you are interested in protecting.

Goober, where did you read that if you are overweight your insurance company will bail on you? You have not looked into this. I guess if you are speeding and have a wreck then you have no coverage?

Have yet to see a verified lawsuit due to an overweight RV being involved in a wreck.

Gentlemen: I post this update not to start a verbal joust, but for the value to any others in the same quandary as I.

Notanlines - thanks for the lead to RVUSA. They had exactly the information I needed.

Porkchop - When I finally identified the unit to purchase, the original owner claimed not to know the pin weight. I found, trying to get the info from a dealer was an exercise in futility (not just for pin weight - for anything).

Wingnut - You were right. The tires were the weak link, and easily corrected. I run 20" tires and got two new ones for the rear, rated for 4050 per tire. Loaded and weighed at the scale, with wife, dog and me, we're at 8200 lbs. I'm comfortable with that.

Here are the specifics
Rated for Actual weight
Truck front axle 5600 5300
Truck rear axle 7000 8200
Towing 14,800 18,000 (this is with 2,000 lbs
on the hitch. Parked, trailer
weighs 20,000
Tires (2) on rear 8100 8200
Tires (2) on front 7500 5300
GVWR 11,500 13,500
GCVWR 26,300 31,500

OCB - I've read elsewhere (and can't remember where) that 3 axle trailers have a lower pin weight than 2 axle trailers of the same approximate lengths. Pin weight on my trailer is 3600 lbs.

My Redwood was a 2 axle with drum brakes. That was an obscenity on the road. It shows just how little the NHTSA does to protect our safety. Whatever stopping I did was thanks to the great brakes on the F-350. (And yes, I tried new trailer brakes and had the brakes checked by two knowledgeable and proven shops.) The 43' DRV, with 3 axles and disc brakes are f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c in comparison. When those brakes begin to clamp onto the disc, the driver knows it.

Handling - I drive at 55. When the wind is blowing, I drop my speed.
The truck has a 3.74 rear end. Lowest ratio on a DWR Ford is 4.10. I get 12 MPG on flat land (Louisiana), no wind. Typical driving is 9.6 MPG (Virginia to northern Maine, driving through mountains of Pennsylvania on 81, 84, and 95. I also have Timbrins, which keeps the bed level with the trailer, and the trailer pulls level.

Would I like DRW ? yes. But that's a big bullet to bite at the same time as a trailer. We all make our own cost/benefit calculations. We all choose to save someplace. I like the SRW we've got, and I'm comfortable with how it handles the 5th wheel. When it's time to replace the truck, if we still have the trailer, we'll decide then, what to do.

My 2011 36RSSB3 has generator & Canadian package extra heater up front. Pin comes in at 4025lbs. That's also with full water & propane.
