Kodiak disc brakes

Can anyone tell me what is involved in replacing the rubber boot on kodiak disc brakes.

I pulled one off this am to replace a rear seal and noticed the rubber boot around the brake piston is coming all to pieces. This is a 2015 Tradition and I am sure the other boots will need replacing also .

Go to your local NAPA and buy an unloaded caliper from a 86 up Buick Century. NOT worth replacing piston seal.

Highly advise lubricating all mating surfaces and slide bolts with proper silicone grease.

I used to rebuild my calipers but it's just not worth it as long as the remans are quality.

If you want the "best" pads per Kevin at Kodiak buy TOP quality semi metallic pads for the Buick application.

86 Buick? No wonder my old Travel Supreme stopped a lot better then this MS. Mor/ryde put the disk brakes on the Travel Supreme with the IS and those brakes were very good!

My MS was ordered with disc brakes. When it was new I never thought the brakes worked that well. After 3 years the ActiBrake (I think that was the brand) actuator failed and I installed a Carlisle unit. After that the brakes worked great. Last year I had the MORryde IS suspension installed. Since I wanted to get rid of the Nev-R Lube bearings I had them install new hubs/discs and calipers. They were almost identical to the originals installed at DRV. These new ones stop ok but a little more lag. I'm going to bleed them and see if that helps.

I advise bleeding for sure! I also advise replacing the pads with NAPA or RayBestos basically top quality. The pads need to be their BEST quality "Sem Metallic" pads. The pads that come with your system are JUNK!!!

I have a ? regarding rust buildup on my Kodiak disk brake rotors. We've fulltimed for 12 years & now have parked the 5er on an Escapees lease lot in southern Alabama, as a home base, & will continue travelling with a new Host truck camper on our F350. I replaced the entire brake assemblies on the 5er 18 months ago & they now have about 15K miles on them. The 5er will now sit for the next 5-10 years, unmoved. I see rust already building up on the rotors & wonder if there is a spray I could apply to the rotors to protect them long term. Something that would peel off or wear off immediately once the rig is moving down the road again. I'm concerned if the rust continues to progress, it could cause serious pitting & long term damage to the rotors.

What Cummins^^^^said. If you spray some kind of protective goober that will last ten years, you will have brakes that will work NOT AT ALL when you get on the road.
