Quick connect

As a former propane dealer I would not put a quick connection inside of the tralier...any time use disconnect you will get propane inside. In my humbly opinion You're just asking for trouble.

The quick connect is for ease of connecting. Maybe connect it early evening , then off prior to bedtime. Every body I have heard about also uses an on/off valve prior to the end termination as an additional safety measure. I had DRV put such a connection under the door side storage area for use with a outdoor grill when the unit was built. Thanks for the comment.

We have a quick connect in our fifth wheel and have never had a problem with it. We do have a toggle switch to turn off the propane to the line before disconnecting. Any remaining propane that *might* escape is so infinitesimally small as to not be a concern...it doesn't even set off our propane detector which is very near the quick connect.

Don makes an excellent point from his life experiences that should help all of us to take care when dealing with our propane connections! Safety is #1!!

We don't have any quick-disconnect connections anyway, but we have always had one serious propane release problem inside our MS ------ which occurs every time we try to light the stove top!!!!!! From the start it has been that way. It generally takes a lot of clicks to finally get a burner to come on. Who knows, maybe a "quick-disconnect" on the stove-top might help this just a little!!!!! lol lol lol (Just kidding) Of course, we could use a "grill lighter"to light the burner, but then that would release propane too , wouldn't it? lol lol

Thanks Don, for your serious real concern about our staying safe in this RV'in lifestyle.

If it takes more than a couple of *clicks* to get your stove burners to light, there's something wrong somewhere. You can either get the problem fixed or get one of the grill lighters. We had an RV once where the "clicker" stopped working within days of taking posession. We thought about having it fixed, but decided on the grill lighter instead.

In order for the burner to light, propane has to reach the orifices, so, yes, some propane probably is released. So what? Again, the amount is so infinitesimally small, that it shouldn't present a problem.

There's a difference between a healthy respect for an RV propane system and being paranoid in its use.

Vent Free Heater Cautions

There is also a need for an informed decision. Anyone contemplating installing auxilliary propane equipment indoors, particularly ventless heaters, should read this as a starting point:
Vent Free Heater Cautions

This is a hot topic and I don't want to get into a debate on pros and cons. Just be informed -- there is a lot of misinformation out there.
