Battery corrosion

If this was my car I would know what to do, but since I have only had my first RV for less than a year, I thought I would ask... I noticed corrosion on my battery connector cables and battery pan. Can I just disconnect my battery and clean the connectors and pan without affecting anything in the camper? I want to avoid replacing the battery and pan. I am hooked up to electrical, nothing is running on the battery as far as I know. :?
