Propane leak detector

Seeing the thread on the propane leak reminded me about this.

We were having false alarms from our Propane leak detector over the past 2 years. Sometimes we would attribute it to the dogs laying against it. It would quit when they got up. Maybe not a false alarm! ha But other times there was no reason. No propane leak, no hairspray, bug spray, cooking etc.

But it started going off this season with more frequency, and in Oct made strange sqealing sound and was hard to get it to stop. Wasn't the normal alarm sound. When I pulled it out, I noticed the date of manufacture was Sept 2000!! Our MS was built in the spring of 05! So this detector was almost 5 years old when installed!

One call to DT and an e-mailed picture and they sent us a new one. Made in 08!

So if your having any issues with yours, check the date of mfg!

propane detecter

Hi
This past yr. our detector caught our batteries going bad, at two different times. The batteries one was 4yrs. old from our old 5ver that we brought with us and the other was 3 yrs old and went shortly after. Since than we added the charge wizard. The 1st battery boiled out and made a big mess. We check them for water but I guess once it went bad and wile sitting for a couple months it went fast.

I too had batteries go bad two times and was alerted by both the propane and carbonmanoxide detectors.
