Dinette Table and Lower Cabinet Removal

I have been kicking around the idea of removing the dining table and lower cabinets to make more useful room of that area. Has anyone done this before? Specifically, I want to know if the "wallpaper" on the doorside slide runs behind the cabinet structure, as well as, is there carpet under the cabinetry there?

2016 MS. I just opened two doors on the credenza and both are there. You will have holes to deal with.
