2007 elite suite automatic satellite dome

We have a 2007 38RL3 Elite Suite with the automatic satellite dome. My son says that I'm outdated.... I already knew that...... but he says the dome is outdated too and not able to pick up HD channels. Is there an easy fix to this or is it more trouble than it's worth? I have Dish network. Thanks in advance again.

Couple of things--first, do you have an HD TV? Secondly, with Dish and HD, you have to have 2 cables from the antenna into the receiver. Does your antenna have 2 cables? Thirdly, with Dish, you have to have an HD receiver.
If you are happy with your reception now, no reason to spend bucks to upgrade.
We use the Winegard Carryout and enjoy it, but have to change the service address when away from home to get the local major channels, then change it back when we return.

No way to update the Winegard Dome that was an option on Suites up through 2009. Supposedly, the MV3500 was HD capable (with an extra box) for Dish.net and had 2 wires, but not HD capable with DirecTV. I think it was the same model as we had on our 2006 ES.

We ordered our unit with HD dome (Traveler wasn't available then) and could only use it for with SD receivers. We could use the roof antenna to get local Networks in HD, but we couldn't tape anything for later viewing. Since it was difficult to find DTV HD satellites, we also went back to the SD DVR's. Nearly 2 yrs later, we upgraded the Dome to the Traveler Dish and both the DVR's to HD DVR's a few months later.

For us, it's been worth it since we're fulltimers. DH removed the Dome, but found he couldn't use the same wiring, so had to run the wires and put the control box in the coat closet instead of the entertainment cabinet. Power cord runs from control box down into basement.
