Wheel Lug Torque

Getting ready for our first trip in the 2015 36RSSB3 and was going to check the wheel torque. Was looking at the Lippert Components handbook for specifications and was shocked at the figures for torque. Somewhere between 275-325 ft-lbs for a 17" wheel with 5/8 flange nuts. WOW So, I saw a sticker on the wall where the heater control, slide in and out, and capacities are and it states 150 ft-lbs. Also, on the TRAILAIR hitch another 150 ft-lb sticker. Vast difference. Any thoughts? Thanks

"What you'll want to torque those to will depend on the construction of your wheels and the size of the lug studs. For steel wheels with 5/8" studs and flange nuts you'll want to use 275-325lbs/ft of torque when tightening your lug nuts."

Wheel torque

Thanks for the reply, but see what I mean. They don't show 5/8 stud, rotating flange on a 17.5" aluminum wheel. They do show 16" with that description so I guess I will follow that. Steel rims take more torque I guess

I'd be inclined to stick with the 150#...

I'm with Jim 150 lb with 17.5" rims. 125 lb with 16" rims

Have 17.5 rims and use 150 pound torque but check them 3 time. Second check 10-25 miles and 50 miles later. After that every six months or 5000 miles.

Hi-spec wheels (which is the supplier for the last several years) specs are:

Lug Size Ft/Lbs Torque
1/2" 90-120
9/16" 120-140
5/8" 140-160

275-325, that number is absurd and many people probably couldn't torque to that level properly anyway, or at the minimum need a torque multiplier.

I'm probably not much help here as our Mobile Suites is a 2010 model. But it does have the 17.5" wheels, although I couldn't say what metal they are made from. However, the instructions I got with the RV stated 150 ft lbs. So, that's where I put mine all the time.

I run 150'# on my DRV and my RAM DRW. Both have clamping lug nuts.

140-150---higher on alloy wheels will probably begin to crush/imprint the flange area.
