Not sure, but sounds to me like you may be talking about chucking.
We too have the Trail Air hitch and air suspension.
I immediately noticed a big difference two years ago when I switched to the Curt Q5 hitch, it virtually eliminated chucking except when extreme road conditions exist and even then it is minimized. I think it probably has to do with the very positive connection when engaged. The hitch has virtually no slop in it anywhere, any of which can contribute to causing chucking.
