Yamaha EF2400iS and extended run fuel tanks

Hi,
I have a Yamaha EF2400iS. Got a great deal from Wise Sales. I used it this weekend in our 5er and it did great. I tested it with a 15,000 BTU A/C and it ran fine (but not much else, besides the battery inverter and the TV).

I'd like to use the Twin Tech option and parrallel two units. However, before I go that route, I'd like to determine if extended run tanks can be used on the Yamaha EF2400iS like they are on the Honda EU2000.

Anyone have any experience with external fuel tanks?

Thanks.

Hey Jay,
Thanks for the response. I've seen the website and I even called Wise. The Yamaha EF1000isc uses a different gas cap then the EF2400iS.

I've fabricated an extended run tank from a boat tank and gas line with a brass fitting attached to the EF2400iS thank (by drilling a hole in the top of the cap). Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test the tank as of yet. When I do, if it works, I'll post my response and photos of how I built the extended run tank.

Well....it WORKS!

I've completed the fabrication of my extended run fuel tanks. The first attempt was not successful. The fuel tank needed to vent. It may be possible for the generator to pull in fuel via vacuum, but I did not have any success with that. Instead I have a fuel inlet and vent outlet on the tank. Pictures of the process are available on my web site.

The generator now runs approximately 24 hours on a tank of fuel.

Also note, that duration power is working on tanks for the EF2400is. They should be available soon....
