Black tires

Ok, I suppose I'm dreaming again, but, is there a reason why all tires are colored black? In the old days, they had tires that were all colors. Old cars and motorcycles had white, red and other colors. Could it be that black tires don't last as long because of heat buildup? Do you think the manufactures know this? Will a white tire last longer? We have seen people cover there tires with white covers because it keeps the UV out and the heat down, so why not just make the tires white to start with. Do you think tires are black because the color of rubber is black? Guess again, the color black has to be added into the mix that isn't even contain rubber anymore. What do you think?
