Value of post trip inspection

After returning form our Ike evacuation, I noticed something hanging out of one of the right rear brake drum. When I crawled under and looked closer, I saw that it was the cable that is part of the self adjustment mechanism.

When I pulled the wheel and hub, I found that one of the springs had broken and allowed the ratchet operator to fall off its pin. The operator was not found, apparently it had worked its way out under the backing plate. Both ends of the spring were still there as was the damaged cable.

I found no damage to the drum, brake shoes, magnet or backing plate. Parts ordered, spring and cable were $1.89. Ratchet operator was ordered to be drop-shipped today, price with shipping should be less than $10.
