slide seals

On the last 2 trips, had noticed water getting in around the BR slide only when closed and traveling. Both trips we went thru heavy, sustained rains and there was water coming in somewhere. Examined the seal around the inside of the slide flanges and found it to be getting old and somewhat deteriorated. Got a new seal from United RV in Fort Worth (if you are in the DFW area, they have way more inventory of parts then McLains/Camping World) and installed it. Leaving tomorrow for 3 weeks in CO and will see if it holds water out now.
Wasn't too hard to do--pulled off old gasket and cleaned surface best I could, then just put the new one on--went way easier than I thought it would. Now just need to run thru some rain while traveling......

Joe

Was it the bulb seal or the wiper seal you replaced?

I've noticed that after raising the landing gear sometimes one or more slides seem to "relax" or back out just a tad so we tweak (reset) the slides just before heading out.

slide seal

Mike,
It was the bulb seal--both the upper corners were cut thru the 'bulb' part at the curve. Could see signs of rubbing as the slide moved up/down when traveling.
Good idea about checking the tightness of the slide at some point while traveling--hadn't thought about it that way.
Thanks,
Joe
Seal was listed at $2.85/ft--needed little over 26' to go around the bedroom area. The old one also had a 1" gap at the bottom where the ends did not meet. Hopefully, I have this problem solved--and waiting for the next one to pop up.
