Sewer valve hard to operate

I have a 14 41RSSB for 3 years now and the sewer knife valve is getting harder to open and close. At times it is incompetent in that it allows some of the flush to leak out when closed. I talked with tech at factory and had advised putting some vegetable oil in tank to try and lubricate the valve fittings. This has not worked and I was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions. I don't know why they choose to use those cables and make the valve so hard to access.
