Is the bedroom drawer unit in the 36SB3 the same as others?

The reason I ask, is that ours fell off of the rollers. It was loose when we purchased it, they tried to fix it, but agreed the unit was warped and they would have to order another set of drawers. We didn't want to leave it so we brought it home for a couple of months. When we took it to the dealer to get it fixed they said it was just a bad design. It needs more support, but there isn't anyway to add that because of the drawers above the unit that slides limit where they can put supports.

Our dealer talked to Kent at Doubletree & explained that ours seemed warped. He just advised them to take it all apart & reassemble. They did & maybe it will be ok. I just wondered if ours were the same as other models & if anyone else had this problem. Just hate to pick it up (300+miles one way) and have the problem not be fixed.

Any opinions?

Bedroom dresser

Wife of Big Doofus

I'm not sure how your bedroom dresser is layed out. Is it like the 36TK3? The bed hits ours when you run the slide in and pushes it under the counter. If yours is like ours then it should hold up a little better than that.

We have pulled ours about 5000 or maybe 6000 miles on some pretty bad roads really bad roads and haven't had any problems yet. I don't really think taking it apart and reassembling it again will fix your problem. Hope I'm wrong.

As always good camping

Yes, the bed pushes the drawers in when the slide comes in. From what I remember of looking at other '07 models I thought they looked the same.

Even my dealer didn't really agree with DT about reassembling them, but that's what they were told to do. They are going to go pull it some to see if it stays.

Yep, that happened to us as well. I removed the top drawers for access to the above bracketry and added more hanger supports to the existing top runners and have not had any more problems for at least a year or so.
If installed correctly in the first place that system is adequate for the task.

On our SB3, the drawer set up is lacking support on the left end. They said they could not put a bracket on the left side because there was no room for one beacuse of the drawer on the left end. When you pull the drawer unit out, it comes out crooked and binds up because on no support on the left side.

I am going to try to get them to send me one of the slider hangers and I think I can make it work by fabricating an angle iron bracket on the wall. This would not be in conflict with the left hand drawer and should provide the support that it needs.

Yes I agree.........Poor design

We had ours repaired at the factory when we went for several repairs. It had fallen on the left side, too. It does not have enough support just using a slider from the top. We put some little pieces of wood at the bottom for support when traveling. It still hangs a little crooked, but right now it's working. I have a feeling that this will be one of Steve's projects in the future.

I had the problem and after repairing the hangers I mounted wheels on the bottom so the slides were not taking all the weight.
Once again I do have drawer slide rail mounts to fix but that is a ongoing problem till all the cheap self aliening ones the factory uses are gone.

Rick, Did you find a better replacement for the bad drawer slides? I'm getting tired of replacing them with the DT supplied ones.

Cheers,
Bill

I get my replacement brackets at Lowe's or Home Depot

About $2 for a set but check before buying as they come in 2 sizes. Measure the hight of the rail before hand and get extras, you know why.

When we first purchased unit I thought it was a half fass set up and would not last long hanging there nover mind under way . So I went and added suport thru the wall on the both sides with bolts and nuts , on the wall side in the closset I added a a pc of finished wood 3/4 x 3 across to help hold bolts not just the panneling.

I also added 4 casters on the bottom inside corners and adjusted them so the weight is on them and not the hanging unit. Have been on some real rough roads and so far it has stood up.

My idea is to buy a good unit and improve on it.

Well we finally got it back & on the way home the drawers fell off of their rollers. When we purchased the MS they saw the drawers were warped & the dealer said they would be replaced. When we took it in for repairs DT said they would not send a new drawer unit but told the dealer how to take them apart & repair them. Well it didn't work!! How can a company sell $95K+ units & not stand by their product? I don't understand. We can't keep taking it hundreds of miles for them just to temporarily fix the problem.

Well there bedder not be any tuner in that truck!!!! My wife is forbidden to eat a stinky tunerfish sandwitch in anything I (we) own!!!

Sorry,.....just the redneck in me LOL

Thanks for the comment on the vid,...I rigged up a mag mount vid cam so I could diagnose problems in and under the equipment that we use in our business.

After foolin' around with it I decided that I could shoot some other videos to show family and friends. 20 sumtin gig's later and a lot of editing that's the final cut. I didn't think about covering my TX plate so blurring the tag was a major task.

Here's a webshots album of the conversion if ya'll are interested

2001 Ford F-450

I also put one in my ol' Chevy, You can go back to the main album and then to "Other Album's" to check out detailed install photos.

Sorry I was slow to answer.........
