Steps

Can any one tell me if the 4 step unit comes lower to the ground than the 3 step, or are the steps just divided more?

They are lower and IMO a good option to get. I wish we had in our rig. I don't recall if it was even on the option list when we ordered in 05 though.

The 4 step quadrastep can be bought as an aftermarket item & is worth the cost in my opinion. My Select has it but I bought it as an aftermarket for my prior Jayco Designer.

They do come closer to the ground & the distance between steps is less making for a more comfortable step.
Our last unit did not have them, but I purchased them on a trip to the factory for somewhere around $150, I think. Took me around 1 hour to change out. I do have a good set of 3 steps sitting in the shop waiting on a new owner. Cheap! New suite came with the 4 step.

Any chance anyone know exactly how much lower they are?

We are building a deck under our steps and we have the 3 step on this 09, we have a 12 on the the way with the 4 step.

Thanks

Quadra Steps

Last time I checked, (a year ago when our steps needed to be rewelded), DRV is using the Quadra steps from Elkhart Tool & Die.

On our Elite Suite, David had to build a bottom step with concrete blocks. Now, we don't need them. Dimensions below.

"Quadra Step RV steps with an approximate 7'' rise and 26'' total drop when opened. The outside edge of bottom step will sit approximately 32'' from the outside wall when opened for a gradual incline. This camper step has a 24'' wide, perforated tread with anti-slip safety strips for added traction."

Product Dimensions: 27" x 12-3/16" x 15-3/4"

I switched to the 4 step and the bottom step is 6 inches off ground, then 7 inch to top. It does extend out further than the 3 step and lower. I do place some boards or bricks on bottom ste[ to make them very stable. Good investment from my standpoint and was easy to install.

Everyone has given you good answers here, but I'll add one little thing. One other difference between the 3-step and 4-step is the "depth" of the tread on each step. Each step on the 3-step is deeper than each on the 4-step.

I just found these pictures that I took back in January of 2010. You can use Jo's shoe as a comparison to the size of each tread. According to measurements taken then, the 3-step treads were 10" and the 4-step treads were 8".
