We are gone for a good six months and do 8,000 plus miles each year. We are back home in the summer, (we snowbird) During the down time I pull each wheel and inspect everything. If the seals are good and grease looks good I don't repack. Same with the brakes, drums and magnets. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Of course if something doesn't look right I redo everything.
Basically check every year and replace or repack as needed.
