It could be, but it is doubtful. We had the issue, but it cleared up, as even though the water tasted fine, when the chemicals in the water got concentrated in the ice, the last of a drink from the cup was horrible.
Replace your filter as soon as possible, which will help. Filters are cheap at Home Depot, I always buy the twin pack made by GE...here is a link from HD website
