Forget the 14k GVWR as it's there to keep the truck in the class 3 no different than the F-450. Look a the RAWR that's SAE rated and is all that matters. My pin is 6k and I am at my 9,750# putting me at 15k on my 6 tires. I have proper tonnage so I am 100% legal and the truck handles the weight great!

Simple fact is the RAM 3500 DRW will handle any DRV out there. Your 5500 will be a rough riding MoFo unless you change out to a air ride.

14k is there to keep the truck out of Commercial classification and licensing higher fees plain and simple.
