The check valve is on the back side of the WH tank inside the basement area behind the sliding doors. Its not that bad to get at and remove.

Relieve the pressure and drop the level in the tank below that of the check valve. The check valve will be attached to the outlet port on the tank near top. Just trace the line to be sure what line you are looking for.

The hose is connected by hand. Then an adjustable wrench to pull the valve off. See if it has clogged up with crud, calcium etc. Maybe you can clean it up. A new one is around $10-20 at most RV parts stores. There are diff type fittings on them, so compare yours to the new one.
