The battery convertor has nothing to do with the AC voltage. If you have that much voltage drop in a 30 foot AC cord it is probably due to a high resistance connection somewhere, or a bad cord end. 110 Volt at the pole is low to start with.

Convertors turn 120 AC volt into 12 volt DC. Invertors turn 12 volt DC into 120 volt AC.

Some of the earlier DRV's had the convertor mounted under the circuit breaker panel, behind the panel and it just plugged into the back of the panel.
