You also need to keep in mind weights. Front load washers have a large counter balance weight for the spin cycle and can weigh 1/2 again what a top loader weighs.

There is also something to be said about not having all your eggs in one basket when it comes to combo units. You can't wash and dry at the same time either which can make for a long wash day. When times come to replace one you have the expense of 2. That said most should outlast your unit.
Just some things to keep in mind as I said. You need to balance your need for time, space, and weight as what is good for one is not always good for the other.
