Several have done the 16" to 17.5" tire/wheels changeout, myself included. Unfortunately, won't help with trailer height--17.5" tires are actually smaller in diameter than the 16" by about 1/4" to 1/2" . Sounds weird, but that is how it is. You get a better/higher capacity tire in the same space or less than the 16" occupied.
