booneII,
For a 32' Suites, the GY614s should have been good--as chevman said, were they the original tires, or replacements?
The changeover to 17.5" wheels/tires has seemed to have solved all the tire problems on these heavier trailers--DRV has optioned or made standard the better tires on new units.
For around $2500, you should be able to put the new 17.5" wheels on your hubs--just need to know the lug size (prob 9/16") and bolt pattern.
Best place I know of to get this done is from
www.trailertiresandwheels.com
talk to Scott--he knows everything about trailer wheels and can/will ship a set to you mounted and balanced, ready to put on. A 17.5" wheel/tire combo is no higher than the 16" and no wider either--everything is a good fit. You can even keep your best 16" as the spare. The old set can be sold on Craigslist quickly.
I used Michelin XTAs on my first set, but at 4 years, the treads separated and Michelin would not help, and cost was sky-high for their tires. I put Cooper RM160s on and have had no problems. Continental also makes the 17.5" at a better price than Michelin. The 17.5" tires have a carrying capacity of around 4800lbs eacn, so that is where the large safety margin comes from.
Go for it, its only money....
