Thanks for the info. I have been hearing a ratcheting noise ever since we got the rig in 05. I had figured it was simply the release pawl on the ratchet dragging on the gear like when you turn a ratchet wrench back from the force direction. Now I figure I had better take a look under the slide and check the condition of the bearing assembly.

Was that gear assembly on one side only or is there one on the other side of the slide as well?

Can you help out getting the pix on the site here? Once the original pix are deleted from the picasa link they won't be available. In this case those are very valuable help in getting this kind of thing fixed. It would be great to be able to do a search here and see them again at a later time.
