Ours is a 2012 and was ALWAYS hard to open & close. We tried the vegetable oil with no success. Some Drv owners re routed the cable and it worked better. You might try doing a search on
www.suitesowners.com. We finally had the valve replaced last summer and now it's easy peasy. I wouldn't go the electric valve way, they have their own issues.
