The vent less combo units do use the condensation proses to collect the water as the close dry. This is done by circulating the hot moist air thought a chamber cooled by running cold water. The colder the cold water the more efficient it works. Still not as efficient as a vented unit.
If your getting a front load washer to save on water usage this is not the way to go as you will have water running all the way though the dry cycle.
