boaterman, this comes up a lot when we show people what the actual weights are after we weight them. When looking at the tag on your door, it shows gross axle and gross weight the truck can weigh. If you add both gross axle weights, you will see they are quite a bit higher than the gross weight of the truck. I think if your under what the gross axle weigh is designed to carry, and your not exceeding what the tires are designed to carry, the truck isn't squatting or sitting so low that the headlights are now spotting owls up in the trees, hook up and go. We have weighed many rigs, and we see a lot over the gcwr, but actually under axle and tire ratings. Many people call that lower gcwr a "lawyer" number for the truck manufacturer.
