Washing machine removal

We continue to have issues with our sears washing machine, so will just replace it. How can it be removed from the slide out tray that it sits on?? Any tips will be appreciated. Is this something that I can do myself??

I just installed the Sears Washer after ordering the same slideout tray from the factory..
To remove washer from the slideout tray:

The casters were removed from washer and replaced with bolts.
These four bolts went up thru the slideout tray into the caster holes..

Once you slide out the washer all the way, you should be able to get
a wrench (about 9/16") on the back two bolts.. Really tight area, but can do.. :(
The front two bolts come out the same way, only a little easier to get a wrench on..

You should now be able to lift the washer out.. :) Hope this helps!

Because of the tight space in the bathroom area, I would think it would help to remove the w/d closet door first.

Our 2005 TK3 came with the Majestic front load. It sucked and was replaced by our dealer with the top load Sears, a much better washer. After 3 months, it started not going into the spin cycle. After 4 service calls and the service people could not get it to repeat the failure, we had to purchase a new washer @ $600+. Sears said that it was now out of warranty, even though we had a record of the service calls while it was in warranty, they declined to do anything for us.

The last failure was last winter while in Harlengin. The service tech who came out advised he has had a large number of circuit board failures on this model as it is all electronic.

Anyway, as indicated, remove the door as once the washer is loose, there is not enough room to get the washer around it with out putting the washer on the bed. Remove the four bolts, ours requires a 17 mm wrench. Remove the two front bolts, pull the tray out and if you have small enough arms, you can get in along side the tray to remove the rear ones. Once loosened, you can tilt the washer back to get additional room to remove the bolts with your fingers.

Side note, our replacement washer failed about 2 months ago and on calling Sears, found they were 3 weeks out on scheduling. The night before they were to come, they called and advised the tech could not make the appointment and we would have to call and re-schedule. On calling, we were advised it would be another 3 weeks. All I can say it we were not happy. Once the tech arrived, he asked what it was doing and then advised he would order a circuit board and when it arrived, call to schedule another appointment, another 3 weeks out. Wife went ballistic and after many calls, found the ear of a customer rep that took the ball and got the parts ordered on an overnight shipment.

Long story shorter, new tech came out, replaced parts, did not fix the problem. He then found that the water pump had failed and ordered the parts. He returned and replaced the parts, it now works.

We have now purchased a 5 year maintenance contract ($425+) due to the track record of the compact washers.

I wonder how many others have had problems with their washers? Is it a problem with the washers or the fact they are in an RV and subject to road vibrations?

Our rig was ordered with the stackables and the washer is the top load Kenmore. The original washer wouldnot drain when first tested by the dealer. It took 2 weeks to get a replacement motor. After it was installed it worked for 2 loads of laundry then quit. DT replaced the washer and it has worked fine since.

Given the simplicity of the machines I don't understand why they have had problems with them. It's not rocket science. :?

I would hope these reports from Kenmore owners will serve as a caution to potential buyers. We chose to retrofit individual Whirlpool appliances and have not been disappointed. Some modification of the closet was required, but was not difficult.

we had trouble with the dryer on our 07 Elite Suite--under warranty, but the problem was under-frame of dryer bend--easy repair but caused by mishandling prior to installation. looked like it had been dropped--others I have talked to had similar problems from mishandling (someplace)--we like our kenmore stackables and no trouble since

In talking to Sears salesmen, they say the Kenmore is made by Whirlpool--have heard this for many years. Our is a Kenmore and working fine, hope that keeps up. Doesn't look like fun taking one out and putting one in.

We heard that quite a few years ago. On our Kenmore washer, it says Whirlpool Corp. MI. Made in Brazil.

Dryer label says mfg by Sears.
