Outer Banks in July - help choosing layover

Traveling from SW Ohio to Camp Hatteras, Outer Banks, NC in July.... Would like to stay 2 - 2.5 hours out after first day of driving so we are fresh when we arrive.... Anyone have a recommendation for camping about this distance away from Camp Hatteras...??? Would like to stay somewhat close to main road...if possible

We just got back from the Outer Banks 1 week ago. We took 77 south to 52 and then 40 east. We stayed at the KOA at Selma, NC. It was ok. RVaction at Selma looked like a nicer cg. We stayed at Camp Hatteras, and felt it was extremely overpriced. Ocean Waves and the KOA looked decent. Twenty miles to the closet, decent grocery store was hardship, since I'm not that organized when it comes to cooking. Do have a nice trip and enjoy.

RVacation at Selma is a nice place to stay. Easy in and out. Large pull thru sites and nice people to deal with.
