bedroom pocket door

I am having trouble keeping the bedroom pocket door secure while traveling. Suggestions, please. We have only had our 38RL3 since Feb 07. Have only pulled it a couple of times and have already messed up the little piece of wood that holds the latch at the bottom. Jim

Ours stayed put for the first 2 years of travel, but this year on some roads we found it was moving. What we did is very simple. Just put an adjustable lenth spring rod at the top when leaving in the morning. It will not move. FWIW we had to do this on our previous SOB.

Jim, you might take a look at possibly adjusting the door down a little, or have a dealer take a look at it. On our '05 RE, there is a board at the top of the door on the B/R side, with plug-buttons covering the board attach screw holes. With the board off, the door has up/down adjustment nuts on the two track roller door hangers. Adjusting these nuts, you can raise or lower the door, for possibly correcting your problem. Also, if the door doesn't flush up to the door-jam correctly, adjusting these nuts would correct that.

Any adjustment made to the door may require some adjustment be made to the latch plate on the door jam, in order for the latch to connect.

Asssuming you might have another thing or two you need dealer service for, this should be a simple item for them to correct.

Ours has been in the shop 6 times for this. The spring rod sounds like the only way to keep it in place. Last trip out the door failed again. I think it bounces around and this makes the plunger jump out of the hole.

You can also get access to those door trucks at the top of the door by removing the cold-air return grill above the pantry.

I've had the track fall away from the ceiling for that door as they only put 2 screws (also too short) in mine at the factory. There is a wooden stopper at the wall end of the track that ha a couple of screws in it that has to be removed to get to the track screw underneath.

You may want to remove the small plate and it's wooden mount from the floor opening and drill the plate right through and remount the wooden mount with longer screws.

OR, you could lock it in the closed position. We have to do that with ours when parked because it opens itself!

Our rig went back to the dealer for the pocket door falling down into the basement the first trip out from the dealer among a couple other things. The solution there was to add some additional and longer screws to the upper supporting track sufficient to hold the weight.

As far as the door sliding one way or the other while stopped I found that making adjustments to the hanging hardware and changing the angle of the door as it hung from the track eliminated that situation unless we were not level. We tried locking the door closed in travel once but the latch wouldn't hold the door as the rig moved down the road.

By setting the door level and allowing it to hang down a bit lower we have had good luck in keeping it latched open while traveling.

Has anyone had trouble with the door warping in some way? Ours worked fine for a few months, but now when closing it, the top has plenty of clearance to go past the molding, but the bottom won't go past the molding about a quarter inch. Has something shifted? Fine for closing from the kitchen area, but very difficult from the bathroom area. Thanks.

We had trouble with ours and now there is a little piece of plastic ribbon type material in a loop slipped under the latch on the bedroom side so when you close the door you can pull it toward you and it will close.

Ours needs to be replaced. The door, on the last trip, came loose and banged around so bad the door fell apart. The dealer has ordered a new one. I've decided we can no longer trust the catch that hods the door closed. The curtain spring rod will be a standard piece of that door while were traveling.
