So, tell me how much you love your B&D coffee maker. Isn't this just a big pile of s%*#. Ours started leaking from day one and we didn't know it was killing our wood in the cabnet. It was impossible to pour coffee out of without leaking all over the place. Anyway, we called B&D and they said they ware going to send us out a new inproved model. We'll see.I'll keep you informed. Oh, buy the way, they want the old one back.

Oh, that damn thing makes me nuts....I'd be happy to send 'em that piece of c--p. Please let us all know if the new/improved model is worth the hassle of procuring.

The only reason I brought it up is that I have seen the newest model and it looked allot better. The craf doesn't have that stupid thing on the bottom for poring and I'm hopeing it doesn't leak. I called B&D and they said they had no problems with it, but, the'll send me out the new model. Now why would they do that if they had no problems?

No problem with ours. We don't drink coffee, so it went to a DIL. 8)

Our dealer replaced ours the first time we had service..........It worked the same way....The filter holder wouldn't stay in place so the coffee would spill everywhere. It must have been a mfg. defect because they were all that way. I finally decided to trash it and buy a new one at Target(or Wallyworld, I can't remember)... Best $40 I ever spent, but I still wish I could have dropped the old one on the mfgs. doorstep... They really should have to stand behind such junk...

I guess we are anal here in Missouri to. My Black and Decker stopped working about 6 months ago it hadn't brewed a dozen pots of coffee and when it did it was a real pain. Spilled coffee everywhere plus really didn't keep it real hot even if you filled it with hot water before using it. (just to make things clear fill with hot water let set and then pour out before letting coffee drip in) Some one might think that I'm more dumb than I really am. I might try and get another one out of B and D kinda like a previous post they should have to stand behind such poor design.

This is so funny :lol: , DH woke me up this mornin screaming "I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!" D@*&+ thing had coffee all over that wonderful bread cabinet. I do like the cabnet, shut that thing as soon as I can, clean coffee maker of course. Hey, has anyone figured out how to get all the H2O out of the lid??? I have tried every thing from banging on towel, dripping on side with TINY HOLE, and last resort shaking in the hair like a tamborine. Ok, I am done, back to drying out the cabinet. :P

Sold ours at a yard sale...got $20 for the darn thing. Hated having coffee all over the countertop when trying to pour a cup of coffee. Presently looking for a good coffee maker that uses the "pods".

It's nice to know I wasn't the only one having a problem. I figured we just got a bad model. It is a hassle to remember to pour a cup of coffee over the sink, but then your arm gets tired because it goes soooo slow. I thought having the undercabinet unit installed was a good idea, but we could have done the same for less. I like my Mr. Coffee in the house. I guess I'll get myself an Easter present, I'm not sure I want to give Black & Decker another try.

How about naming the replacement models anyone get. This would save time and research for others.

I didn't know black and decker made pacemakers! I will let my purchasing dept at the hospital know. I hope they work better then their spacemaker coffee pots.

I'd also be interested in the model numbers of the old ones and the replacement ones.
So far ours has worked pretty good, but has developed a leak in the bladder at the bottom of the water housing. Every time we fill it we have to wipe up a water leak. Maybe I could get a replacement too.

We have been using a Bunn coffee maker. It makes the coffee hot instantly. It has water in it all the time. It rides out on the counter and never moves. I do put the glass pot in the shelf with some other dishes, but I never have any problems with the coffee pot making a mess, including while we are traveling. I do power it off while we travel. We like it because it makes a good cup of hot coffee quickly.

If you have a bad coffee maker, call B$D and tell them how much you love your maker and the'll send you out a new one. As soon as we get home, we'll let everyone know the model number and if it works better than the old guy.

We didn't get the spacemaker stye pot and are pretty happy with the regular counter top coffee makers. I bought one for about $10.00 and use it for my morning coffee. I make it a "programmable" one by plugging it into a vacation timer so the coffee is made before I get up. So far I've had the same coffee maker now for almost 3 years. We just wrap it in small towels and put it in the sink for traveling. Nancy uses another one for hot water for tea and her decaf instant coffee.

I had the B&D Spacemaker in my sick house over 10 years ago with the same problems so I doubt the new model will be any better. I took one look at it and out it came. It never had a chance to leak.
The problem with the reservoir leaking is getting a mineral build up on the seal. Using distiled water will help. The worse the tap water the faster it will fail. The carafe is yet another problem. I had found that holding the top open or taking it off helped in the poring problem.

The only real fix is pitch it.

Just received the replacement coffee maker. This looks mostly the same look and size. We found it had a class carafe the was great to pour. Didn't leak coffee all over the place. It also has a heated base to keep the coffee hot. I also noticed it has bigger read out for us blind guys. Rubber feet on the bottom. Before I install it, I'm going to add a small plate for it to sit in, just in case. Model number ODC440.
This is a much better unit. B&D must have replaced a ton of them. They also sent me a postage free label to send the old one back.

I like the way it turns off when the coffee is ready and I like the insulated pot, but it leaks all over the place and really doesn't hold enough coffee. We set ours on a teflon cookie sheet inside the cabinet so the water would go on the cookie sheet rather than ruin the wood. It works fine, but is a major clean up after every single use.
