I have never lube bearings and 0.5 off set steel wheels that take to the hub like a glove 17.5 rims will I be ok and not beat up bearings should I torque flange nuts to 275 lb seems like a lot to me I can not run a center cap no room for fit

Torque is 140lbs on most of these 17.5 lugs. Not sure where you heard got the 275.

Saw a chart for flange nuts on steel rims it said toque to 275 to 325 seams to much to me I’ll try 140 lb and. He k now and then thanks

Your torque spec should be on a decal affixed to your RV.
140 most likely - 275 - not a all

I run 150# on my RV and DRW lugs. It's within spec and easy to remember.

Cummins are those flange lug nuts or cone style you are running and how to get never lube bearings out of hub. Do they exit out of where the studs are on the hub

The lug nuts on both rigs are clamping flange type.

Under the cap is a big snap ring that holds the sealed bearing in place. They are pressed in and out.

You may or may not be aware that never-lube bearings do not hold up with offset wheels. Max of .19 for 50MM on 8K axles and 0 offset on the others are the specs.


Don't intend to cause you heartburn. You have probably already checked this out.

I also see you asked on another tread how to remove never-lube bearings. They have to be pressed out of the hub. Probably can't DIY unless you have a press.

I would be keeping an eye on the back side of the bearing as they start leaking grease just before failure!

So will .05 be ok on new bearings just pressed out old bearings looking to jack up axels to put on wheels the rig is on stands had to put new shear springs on and wet bolts dropped to lower hole on suspension to lift rig was sitting 17” from frame to concrete in rear 21” to front put 17.5 wheels on looking to get hopefully a good 2” lift in rear so I can pull more level

Your original post said 0.5 which would be out of spec. If it is actually .05 then you should be OK according to the Dexter specs. for the 50MM bearings. If yours are 43MM bearings then there is 0 offset allowed.



I am getting this from the Dexter web page. You might want to check it out there reduce any confusion.

I saved the old bearings when I converted to disc brakes so I could carry a couple of extra nevr-lube bearings with me. I have not needed them but came across a family broke down on the side of the road that had one go out. I was able to drive the old one out and the new/used one in with a 3# hammer and a couple of steel sleeves I had packed that were the right size, a lot of pounding but it is doable.
