Best portable vacuum for a 5th wheel

This is Sundances better half & I would like to put this question out to the ladies. What compact vacuum do you recommend for a 5th wheel? At this time we are waiting for ours to arrive at the dealers & have looked at a few but are not sure which way to go. Would appreciate input from the ladies.

I'm not a lady but can tell you that my wife LOVES her Dyson V8... She tells me it's light, easy to use and comes apart into smaller sections for easy portability and tight spaces.

Once you do find what you like, where are you going to store it. The storage space becomes a problem all in its self.

Seriously, the DYSON does a GREAT job. Buy it from Costco so if it ever fails they will refund you in full.

I store ours in the controls cabinet next to the entry door.

I will go against the "apparent" grain here and recommend the Shark Rocket vacuum. We had a Dyson, but the wife didn't feel that it did a good job on carpet. She replaced it with a Shark. Later on, she saw yet another Shark Rocket that she liked the features even better, so she bought it. Now, she has purchased yet a third Shark Rocket, claiming that this one is easier to clean out after use.


It is a corded unit, but she has found that she can plug it in at our kitchen counter and the cord will reach all the way to front and back of the RV.

Dyson's are pricey, but they work as advertised. I'm still amazed at how full the bin gets using in what looks like a clean room.

We had one of the early models (35 I think), bought a pair on them at Lowes on closeout, $50 each

Upgraded to the "animal" when we got the DRV. Also have the central vac in the DRV which I like to use for projects.
When we moved to our new house we had no vacuums (had a central in the last house) so I got the Dyson V10. Again, pricey but works great.

I still have one of our first Dyson 35's, use it in the storage area over our S&B garage.

For the DRV I ran a separate 20 amp circuit from the breaker panel to the left side of the closet and mounted the Dyson on the wall on that side.

Checked my quicken register, DC35 and DC44 for $60 and $70 close out, V8 in the DRV and V11 for the house

From the factory the only receptacle near the front closet is above the cabinets on the right side, not very useful for a heater on the floor on the other side of the closet.

So the 20 is mounted low and on the left side of the door and is for a Pelonis disc heater (the 39DBRS3 has non existent heat up front, except when the sun is beating down on the poorly insulated front cap).

Keeps the heater cord from being a trip hazard, and sufficient wiring for the load.

Like many others, I'm not a lady, but we have the Dyson that came with our Cardinal and love it so much we bought a second one for the home. One note - if you ever need to replace your battery, you can get a more powerful battery from Amazon for about 1/3 the cost of one from Dyson.

It is interesting with regards to changes over the years. On our 2010 MS, we have outlets in our bedroom at the cabinet above the dresser and one each at both of the "night-tables" by our bed and then one more on the wall near the off-door side of the closet. There is yet another under the bed for the pump for our Select Comfort bed, but that one is pretty much a dedicated outlet just for that pump.

It is interesting with regards to changes over the years.



Our model is the front bath - 39DBRS3 (same as Houston front the steps forward). From a practical standpoint the wiring makes sense.
The bathroom sink is on the door side so are the 120v receptacles.

If it was something I thought of during ordering I would have added the off door side then.

Tell you what we Love. We purchased a Dirt Devil central RV vac. Holds small bags so once it fills, just toss the bag. The bags do hold a lot I mounted it under the bed storage compartment and the wall plaque on the outside of the storage area. Lift the plaque to plug in the hose and the vacuum comes on. The hose stretches 35' and the vac. comes with several attachments. I've had ours since our 2012 class A MH. I removed it when we purchased the 5er and put a blank switch cover over the hole from the Plaque removal. Vacuum is the best couple hundred bucks that you'll spend. Nothing picks up better, Nothing. And we have two Labs to vacuum up after. LOL

We also have had both and our central vac actually does work as well as the Dyson so we left it at home for our daughter to wreck.

Three central vacs and neither one came close to the cordless Dyson we have had now for 5 years. Short battery life only downside, can almost do the entire coach on one charge. Two yorkies that don't shed (haha) and the difference in what the Dyson gets vs the central vac is amazing.

Our original DYSON's battery wouldn't keep up like it did when new so a trip to Costco and the latest model later with a few $$$ extra in the pocket the battery easily lasts to do the whole RV.

We have dogs so the best solution we have found is a $300ish roomba. Found at home they outperformed the dysan animal especially on carpet. Does a great job downstairs in the vinyl as well. We just let it rip when we take the dogs out for a walk a couple times a week. Also does a good job in the rigs basement during spring cleaning ;-)

Also found the dysan stick knockoffs on Amazon work really well for $100. Just follow the reviews.

Dyson cordless. Hands down. We just take ours from home when we travel.
