View Full Version : Airflow on Dometic A/C Heat Pump
I have a 41ft Mobile Suite and the rear a/c heat pump blows very little amount of air out the ceiling vents, If you have it on HI fan, if you hold your hand about several inches away you can't feel any airflow . Also the heat pump will only make the temp come up a few degrees even of outside temp is 50 or above , Could I have a collapsed vent in ceiling

I would suspect the intake vents are more likely collapsed than the outflow vents. You can look in the vents where your air filters are and see if those ducts look to be open or not.
I got a snake camera and looked in the vents , both intake & output and couldn't see any blockage , but did get on roof while unit was running and there seemed to be a huge amount of air blowing out the side vents of the ac cover which not sure is normal , should the heatpump warm your camper when say it is 45 to 50 degrees outside or do you always have to have the furnace to come on

One heat pump and my fireplace is all the heat I need down to about 40 degrees.
There should be some air coming out of the AC cover but it sounds like yours is excessive. Might open yours up and see if all of the compartments are still sealed, if not some good tape would do the trick. When you open it up you can tell what should be sealed, it is all covered with starifoam.
Good luck.

Heat pump alone keeps our 37 foot alpine good down to the 40's. Should actually blow more air inside but at lower temperature than say your furnace. Check filters in return air grills and possible filter in the ht pump itself. As mentioned make sure your compartments are sealed against cross flow in the ht pump itself. Check the coil input side for dirt as a wet coil in summer filters out any dirt filters don't catch and frequently cause exactly what you are experiencing.

A number of typical low airflow situations are caused by a number of reasons:
Dirty air filter
Air duct problems
Fan and reasons for its malfunction
A dirty air filter prevents sufficient airflow.
Solution: Replace or clean an air filter if it's dirty.
Ventilation problems can restrict air movement.
Possible problems:
Damaged ventilation duct
Flex duct has kinks
Solution: Check ventilation ducts for damage on kinks. Otherwise, you will need to contact an air conditioner technician to find out ventilation problems.
Sometimes a fan causes poor airflow:
Dirty fan blades
Torn or frayed fan belt, if present (squeaky noise is heard during operation)
Defective fan motor.
Contact a service center if you can't find a reason.

Pull all your supply and return's and take a look in there. Have some foil tape to fix the mess you will see.

Where is the heat pump filter located? I am also feeling very low air flow at my inside heat pump ceiling vents.

Filters if there are any are usually in return air grills.
