Slides during bad weather

When high winds or thunderstorms are forecast the RV Park we’re living in sends out a warning text that includes “close your awnings and your slides.” If I pull my slides in my unit is pretty much unusable except to climb up on the bed.
My question for the group is this. Is an RV more stable with the slides in than out? In my opinion if the wind is strong enough to damage my coach it makes no difference.

I have LITERALLY been in winds hitting 90mph in our 07.5 36' MS hitting us broadside. It was quite a ride. No slide toppers and awnings pulled in. The top of the slide was pushing in as much as 1.5" but we sustained NO damage.

Awning yes slides no. If my slides are in I can't get to my bathroom or bed. Only thing it's good for then is to tow it down the road.;)

Slides will move at the top, but usually only a scare problem. Leaving the awnings out in strong, even mild winds, will answer the question permanently...

Setting in the door side slide looking out the window as shown in pic above I was moving a lot! I stood at the door and looked at the slide where it meets the wall and when the wind would gust the top would come in at least 1.5".

Honestly thought the RV was going to end up laying on the drivers side.
