You may have seen my other post about the electrical issues we've had in the last 24 hours. My husband has gotten everything working again EXCEPT for the microwave.
There is power to the outlet for the microwave but the microwave won't come on.
Wondering if there is a fuse in the microwave that needs to be replaced?
If so, how do you access the fuse?
Any other ideas on why the microwave won't start up?
Thanks for all your help!!

I had mine quit working. There was mention of replacing the switch the door latches into. I sprayed into the latch holes with some electric contact cleaner, a month later it's been flawless.

Mine is a Whirlpool.

Yes the Advantium has a fuse. I replaced mine once. Pull the micro wave off the wall and set it on a flat surface. Unscrew the case to allow the top to be pulled back exposing the top. There was a fuse up there that as I recall I had to take to a electrical shop to get a replacement that matched. Way too expensive of a micro wave to just toss out, and it will probably take two of you to remove it as it is heavy and awkward to handle.

That is a great write up, but I could not get enough room to easily remove that fuse, so the unit came off the wall.

Not seeing you exact unit but the typical fuse inside most microwave ovens is a Ceramic microwave fuse 20A - ~$4 on AMZN. Be very careful of what you touch under the cover. There is a large capacitor, usually with a bleed resistor across it, that can hold a very high energy charge.

I appreciate all the help! My husband replaced the fuses but the microwave is still dead. He's testing more of the components but if he doesn't figure it out soon, I'll be calling an appliance repair person.

For the cost I would simply replace it!

You have not priced a Advantium oven, unles they have really really changed, we paid over $1,200 for each of ours. The very first one was over 2 grand. We have owned 5 of them.

Yes, what I've seen so far is $2000, so I really want to get this one fixed if possible. I don't have an extra 2K laying around right now.

Most M/W problems revolve @ the interlock door micro switches

When my Whirlpool started acting up I blasted the two holes the door latches into with electrical contact cleaner. Working fine for two months now.

My husband continues working through the microwave issues. He's found that the transformer isn't working, so we've ordered a new one. Unfortunately, it's backordered until January.
Once he puts in the new transformer, next is to check to see if the board also got fried.
Since this troubleshooting/getting new parts is such a slow process, we purchased an inexpensive microwave to get us by for a few weeks.

I paid $175 to get my circuit board replaced.

Oldbird, that's really good to know - I was wondering how expensive they are. Where did you buy a new board?

repairclinic.com is a great place to buy OE appliance parts. Bought from them for many years.

It was about $100 and the rest for their labor. I got it in Lake Havasu City, AZ at Dave's Appliance. They seemed like honest people and like many have said, I didn't want to give up on it and get another! Its heavy though, I got it down OK but putting it back up I got some help.

Yes, I already told my husband that he'll have to get someone bigger than me to help him handle it!

Microwave quit, took it apart and changed the fuse, ran for 30 seconds and quit again. I’m done with it. Lowe’s has a Samsung for 200 bucks. It’s not convection but I’ve never used that feature so I don’t need it.
My question is, has anyone changed to a different brand microwave in their DRV? I’m sure the mounting holes won’t match up with the old one so I’m concerned about getting it properly secured. The last thing I need is for that 50lb. machine to come crashing down while I’m going down the road.
As always, thanks for the help.
Phil

Our microwave/convection oven had to be replaced. So we bought a new GE Profile Microwave/Convection oven from Lowe's. It fit perfectly into the space but the mounting holes were placed differently than our old oven. The RV repair guy fabricated a new mounting bracket & installed it with no problem.

Thanks for the help. I plan to be the “rv repair guy” so I’m wondering how much fabrication will be required.

Phil, keep in mind that you have a fairly late-model DRV. If you get rid of it, people are going to expect it to have the convection feature. It might seem like a little thing, but you have a top line RV and probably should keep it that way.
Just another's opinion. YMMV
