We live in Minnesota and are leaving for Arizona in a few days. Am I ok with not winterizing my rv if I have it plugged and the water heater on and my underbelly heater on. It's been getting down to 20 degrees at night and highs only in the 30's.

I don't think anyone can give you an educated answer. You need to see what the weather will be along your route during the trip in order to make a decision.

I would guess if it gets above freezing during the days and you keep the heaters on you should be okay. But then again I don't know your trailer or your route or the weather forecast. See what I mean. It's your decision. Good luck

Bernie, do you live in Baudette or in Blue Earth? Almost like night and day. I believe FJ is right in that we don't know your situation or your equipment. But I can tell you that sitting still in Bemidji at 22 degrees is in no way similar to towing through South Dakota at 60 MPH and 22 degrees. You will NOT keep that underbelly warm while moving.

Might consider keeping the furnace on about 40-45 to help warm the basement/belly area. You will need good batteries to do this, otherwise, drain up and winterize for the trip. We just traveled from CO to UT to NM to OKC--no freezing even in 15d temps.

We usually wait until January to head for Arizona and I leave our 5th wheel winterized until the first campground I hit on I-40. I would hate to have a breakdown of any type that could cause big problems due to the cold and something freezing up. We live in western Kansas and the winter temperatures can be pretty unpredictable. Once I'm in New Mexico, I figure I'm good to go.

Wonder what Bernie decided to do.
