A little introduction. Retired new to a 5th wheel coming from class a and other campers. I hope to get help and give help if I can. Thanks

Welcome, so have you bought a 5th wheel yet or still looking?

I have an Elkridge 31RLK on order if it ever gets here. Now I need to figure out hitching configuration for a Ram 3500 shingle wheel short bed.

Is it a newer Ram with the factory puck set-up in the bed?

Yes, it is a Factory system. I want something that I can remove easily to use the bed of my truck.

PullRite Super Glide. Worked great in my 2015 Ram 3500 short bed. Saved me more than once when I wasn't paying attention.

You might look at the Reese goose box, you use the goose ball in the bed instead of a 5th wheel hitch.

Doesn’t running a fifth wheel RV on a gooseneck conversation void the chassis warranty? I’d also be concerned about liability.

I was told the goose box would not work with my Ram 3500 short bed.

The Goose Box like any other mod needs to be researched to make sure there won't be any warranty issues.

Welcome aboard! I have had goosenecks on all 3 5th wheels I have owned. Warranty was never an issue - to old. I have never experienced evidence of a degraded frame. The liability thing is interesting. I have yet to read of a gooseneck actually being attributed to frame failure. Does anyone have anecdotal evidence of this? I have a tendency to take manufacturer statements with a grain of salt although I have not read any of them (gooseneck related) first hand only second hand posts on forums. So your 5th wheel is a welded steel frame with and aluminum framed deckhouse attached.
